Tommy Fury could step further away from traditional boxing in his next bout, potentially an exhibition against a boxing legend and Hall of Famer.
The 24-year-old built up eight wins before his reality TV fame landed him in with Jake Paul, a mega-money bout that he won by split decision.
He would then beat another YouTube star in KSI in a similar fashion, before declaring that he was ‘done with the crossover bull***t.’
Speaking to The Express via Free Bets UK, his father John Fury said that there’s now a chance he faces off against four-weight world champion Roy Jones Jr.
“We’re speaking to Roy Jones Jr; we can do something with him. I’m giving it some thought at the time of speaking. Roy Jones Jr is a great guy. He’s a lovely fella, a standup man and a hall-of-fame great.”
Asked if it would be an exhibition, Fury said possibly.
“Yeah, maybe it is an exhibition or something, whatever he wants to do. We’ve not really spoken in great detail, but he did say over in Saudi ‘Let’s do something’ and we’re all ears. We just need to sit down and see what is best for Tommy and Roy Jones Jr.”
The pair previously exchanged words in Saudi Arabia, with Jones first suggesting the bout and Tommy replying that ‘it would be an honour.’
Should the talks come good, it would be Jones first action in the ring since a majority decision loss to MMA fighter Anthony Pettis in April of this year, and his second exhibition after his outing against Mike Tyson back in 2020.
