Francis Ngannou has broken his silence following his vicious second round knockout defeat to Anthony Joshua on Friday.
The two men were going head to head in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, but Joshua’s superior ability shone through, as he dispatched of the former UFC heavyweight champion with ease.
Joshua knocked his rival down in the opening round of the contest, and while Ngannou was able to get back to his feet, the writing appeared to already be on the wall.
In the second round, ‘AJ’ sent the MMA star tumbling to the canvas again, and even though Ngannou showed lots of heart to get up, another huge right hand soon followed, as Joshua earned a destructive second round knockout win.
The Cameroonian has now taken to X to discuss the fight, feeling that he has let everybody down with his performance.
“Sorry guys I let you all down. Today was a bad day in the office but tomorrow will be another day. Thank you all for the love.”
It was a big contrast to Ngannou’s professional boxing debut back in October, where he shocked the world as he knocked Tyson Fury down on his way to an extremely narrow split decision loss to the reigning WBC heavyweight champion.
It is believed that Ngannou will now return to MMA for his next outing, with an appearance in the PFL expected later in the year.
