Francis Ngannou reacts to Jon Jones joining MVP broadcast team with cryptic warning

Cameroonian-French MMA fighter Francis Ngannou recently reacted to Jon Jones’ inclusion in this weekend’s MVP broadcast team. The first MMA event on Netflix takes off this Saturday at the Intuit Dome under the Ronda Rousey vs Gina Carano headliner. Rousey has yet to realize her dreams of returning to the UFC in a revolutionary move. However, she remains bent on rewriting her career’s ending with a massive outing against Carano.

While several other fighters who fought in the Octagon will compete alongside Rousey, the promotion is enlisting a few former UFC fighters in other roles. The MMA enlisted the services of two-weight UFC champion Jon Jones on its broadcast team. Beside him are former UFC heavyweight titlist Cain Velasquez and women’s MMA pioneer Cat Zingano broadcasting for the high-stakes clash. For Ngannou, however, Jones’ inclusion on the broadcast team adds an intriguing twist to the role.

Francis Ngannou makes “interesting” take about Jon Jones’ inclusion for MVP’s pioneer Netflix broadcast

Ngannou has always been interested in a bout with Jones. While the French artist reigned as UFC heavyweight champion between March 2021 and January 2023, many fans hoped a clash with Jones would materialize. However, the UFC had other ideas. They denied both sides from securing a bout until Ngannou exited the promotion in 2023. There may be a clash between both stars in future. But as it stands, the Cameroonian finds the thoughts of fighting before favorite foe already exciting.

“It’s going to be interesting to see Jon Jones in the same arena… It’s very interesting to see how it’s going to be.”

Ngannou made the comments during a pre-fight presser with the promotion. “The Predator” was full of support for Jones earlier this year after the latter’s fallout with the UFC. Among other things, Ngannou claimed that Jones erred by signing a long-term contract with the UFC when he did. For many fans, this public show of support has stirred even more speculation that both artists could face-off again. However, if the Ngannou-Jones fight ever happens, it’ll most likely occur outside the UFC.
