Former UFC superstar turned professional boxer Francis Ngannou has compared the personality of upcoming opponent Anthony Joshua to that of his previous foe Tyson Fury, labelling one of the Brits as a ‘playboy’.
Ngannou came extremely close to pulling off one of the greatest upsets in combat sports history when he debuted against Fury back in October, knocking down the WBC heavyweight champion and being unlucky to lose a razor-thin split-decision.
Despite the loss, Ngannou has found himself in another huge fight, as he heads to Saudi Arabia once again for the showdown against Joshua in two weeks.
‘The Predator’ will seek to go one better and record a first win as a boxer, and whilst speaking to The Mirror, Ngannou compared the difference between his past and future dance-partners, explaining why he feels Fury is a ‘playboy’.
”Anthony Joshua never trash talks, his personality is more serious unlike Tyson Fury who is more like a playboy. I think when it comes to fighting, they both know how to fight and that’s what I’m focused on.
“He might have been nervous but that doesn’t mean anything, in fact I think being nervous means he is taking things very serious. It’s very important because he’s going to do his best to show up on the day with everything.”
Despite the allure of an undisputed title shot, which was promised for the victor of Joshua-Ngannou, it seems that Ngannou’s clash with ‘AJ’ could be his last in the sport, after confirmation of his plans to return to MMA and fight in the PFL this year.
