Frank Bruno is a certified British boxing legend.
The former WBC heavyweight champion has done what few athletes did in the 90s – he made it in the mainstream.
Due to his character and charm, Bruno became a household name and was one of the country’s most popular sportsmen at the time.
But it seems that things are looking seriously worrisome for the former world champion.
That’s because the boxing legend Frank Bruno is undergoing several medical tests in a hospital. There are concerns that his brain is in “slow decline” due to the blows suffered during his career.
Doctors are trying to determine whether the impacts sustained over his 14-year professional boxing career have caused long-term damage.
Rachel, Frank Bruno’s daughter, shared that the family was recently informed about the possibility of brain deterioration in her father.
“They are just doing scans and tests at the moment. With the impact of his career and constant knocks to the head, it’s obviously probably not helped,” Rachel stated.
However, she acknowledged that they still do not know how fast the deterioration will progress. The family is remaining strong in the face of the situation, focusing on enjoying every moment with Frank.

Despite the concerns, Frank Bruno himself has spoken out, reassuring his followers.
In a message shared on his official “X” account (formerly Twitter), the boxer confirmed that his health is fine. He also mentioned that he remains active, giving talks across the country, with a very busy schedule.
“Morning Can I confirm my health is fine I am doing speaking events every week and audiences who see & hear me up and down the country will testify to that.
“People are booking me all the time in fact the diary is looking good.
“Moving on I was honoured to receive an award last night and thank you to the people who voted for me.
“Good excellent win for West Ham yesterday are the teams fortune’s changing?
“I know a song about that.
Have a good day me I’m going in the gym”, Frank wrote on X.
The Legacy of Frank Bruno in Boxing
Frank, now 62 years old, recently spoke in the Amazon documentary Four Kings, where he reflected on his career.
“I won the world championship. I’ve got some beautiful kids. What more do you need?” he said, expressing gratitude for everything he has accomplished.
A close source to Bruno affirmed that the former champion is in one of his best moments, both physically and mentally.
“Frank is fitter and healthier than in years. Every week, he attends three or four events where he talks about his career and his work,” the source said.
Additionally, it was mentioned that all retired boxers, including Frank, undergo regular medical checkups to monitor their health.
The Four King documentary featuring Frank Bruno details the careers of other boxing greats like Lennox Lewis, Chris Eubank, and Nigel Benn.
It also examines the risks of the sport, highlighting the brain damage suffered by Michael Watson in a fight with Eubank and the life-changing injuries that affected Gerald McClellan after his bout with Benn.
These examples underscore the dangers faced by boxers during their professional careers.
Frank is no stranger to life’s challenges.
Twenty years ago, he was admitted to Goodmayes Hospital in northeast London due to mental health issues. More recently, in 2021, he had to be readmitted during the lockdown.
His personal experience led him to establish the Frank Bruno Foundation, which advocates for mental health and provides support to those facing similar issues.
A close source to the foundation stated that the organization “is going from strength to strength,” reflecting Frank’s continued commitment to this cause.
This latest development in Frank Bruno’s health highlights the long-term dangers faced by boxers. Nonetheless, the legendary boxer’s spirit, strength, and dedication remain unshakable.
