Frank Warren, promoter to the Fury’s, has responded positively to a deadline set by Jake Paul to fight his fighter, Tommy.
Following a ringside back and forth that was a bit more pro wrestling than boxing, Jake Paul took to social media to set a deadline for Tommy Fury to provide a signed contract to fight him.
Addressing Warren directly, Paul said he agreed to fight in February in the UK and, since Tommy’s father said terms were already agreed, he demanded a contract be with him within 7 days.
Speaking on TalkSPORT this week, Warren seemed to confirm that the deadline would be met, and provided a potential date for completion as well as the fight.
“It will probably be in late February or March. The reason why it didn’t go [before], the contracts were all signed, because of the problems he had with the US immigration.
We are all past that now. Jake is up for coming over here and we have to get the deal finalised in the next week or so.”
This will be the third time Fury and Paul are due to face off, and fans will hope that it actually ends up with the men in the ring this time. The first was cancelled due injuries – broken ribs and chest infection – suffered by Fury in training camp.
The rescheduled fight came much close to happening, however Fury was prevented from entering the US and Paul was forced to find a last minute replacement – which, by the way, fell through as well.
Now, set to actually face off, Warren of course fancies his man to do the business.
“I’ve got to fancy the boxer, Tommy, to beat him. That’s why I’m keen on making it. It’s life-changing money for Tommy and it’s a no brainer for him to fight him.
Jake Paul is obviously taking it very seriously now. He’s got a licence and he is training very hard. What level he is at you are only going to find out when he fights a Tommy Fury.”
There should be more on this soon given the deadline – one which Warren will likely be keen to meet given his recent dealings with similar demands whilst trying to negotiate a fight between Tommy’s brother, Tyson, and Anthony Joshua.
