Frank Warren has spoken out about a potential clash between Jake Paul and Tommy Fury – and is confident fans will see the fight in 2023.
In an interview with IFL TV, Warren was bullish when asked whether a fight with Paul, which would be a career high payday for Fury, was still on the cards.
“Both sides are really eager to making it [Jake Paul vs Tommy Fury] happen and I don’t think we’re far off getting it on. I think we’re quite close to making it happen.”
“It’s a life changing money fight for him and obviously he wants it. It was on, then he couldn’t get into the States which was a problem. But we’ll get it on, we’re really determined to make it happen.”
“All sides are really good on getting it over the line – we will get it over the line.”
Fury has actually had to withdraw on two occasions from scheduled fights with Paul, a broken rib ruling him out initially before the issues he had travelling to America mentioned by Warren.
The former Love Island star was last in a ring in November on the Floyd Mayweather vs Deji undercard in Dubai.
Despite being initially due to face Paul Bamba in a professional contest, the fight was pulled due to disagreements over weight and Fury faced Rolly Lambert in an exhibition instead.
As for Jake Paul, in October he secured arguably the most impressive win of his foray into professional boxing thus far, outpointing in UFC legend Anderson Silva in Glendale, Arizona.
If ‘The Problem Child’ and ‘TNT’ are to lock horns next, reports suggest the contest would be likely to take place in the United Kingdom.
