# Carl Froch Gives Verdict On Katie Taylor Knockdown Controversy And His ‘Fair Score’

Carl Froch has had his say on a controversial moment in the recent Chantelle Cameron-Katie Taylor rematch.

[The engaging battle saw Taylor run out with a majority decision and lift the undisputed super-lightweight title which she now adds to her undisputed lightweight status.](https://wp.boxing-social.com/news/katie-taylor-beats-chantelle-cameron-in-thrilling-rematch/)

It was a great performance and fine reverse for Taylor who lost the first fight earlier in the year, but this time cemented her already established status as one of the sport’s most accomplished fighters.

It was not without controversy, however, as Cameron dropped Taylor in round one only for the referee to indicate it was not a legitimate knockdown.

[Speaking on his own Froch on Fighting,](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zCufc1gLMRo&t=124s) The Cobra initially said that he thought it was a knockdown.

> “I’ve watched the first round knockdown and Taylor was hit with a punch from Cameron and she went over, so you’d say that was a knockdown.”

But he then caveated that with an explanation.

> “However, the punch landed around the chest area, she got a hand to it and it was blocked. For me, a knockdown is a punch landing on the chin, the body shot hurting them and them going over. But it was in the chest area and it looked like Taylor blocked it, flew back and fell over.”

Lastly, he pointed out Taylor didn’t look hurt and jumped right back up.

> “I wouldn’t class that as losing the round 10-8, it wouldn’t be a fair score. She got straight back up, wasn’t hurt and got on with the fight.”

[Either way, many fight fans are hoping the whole thing can be run back one third and final time, with Croke Park in Dublin the ideal venue.](https://www.skysports.com/boxing/news/12183/13016458/katie-taylor-wants-chantelle-cameron-trilogy-at-croke-park-dont-ever-doubt-me-says-two-weight-undisputed-champ)
