Another member of the Fury family has now got involved with father John’s spat with Carl Froch and said ‘I don’t agree with it.’
All of this began when it emerged that Fury had been cut late on in sparring for his undisputed fight with Oleksandr Usyk. It was originally scheduled for February 17 but the injury has now delayed it until May 18.
Many onlookers worried that the setback might keep Fury out for an extended period as it has done before when he was due to rematch Wladimir Klitshcko, and the two camps exchanged plenty of heated views.
Ex-super middleweight champion Froch used the chance to assess Fury’s CV and decided that it might not be as strong as many had thought. That triggered Fury’s father John into a war of words with ‘The Cobra’ that ended with an offer to fight at Wembley Stadium.
Now speaking to Boxing King Media, Shane Fury has weighed in.
“It’s quite cringey. I don’t agree with it at all. My dad is his own man. He’ll do what he’ll do. I’ve not actually spoken about it. He gets irate cause emotional he’s the same as me, emotionally involved with it.
“He comes out with stuff. He’d be better off eating a cheese sandwich watching tele. I don’t really care about that side of it but he’s got a few people offering him to fight.
He was asked if he would like to see his father fight.
“No, not really. But if you’ve got people calling you out you’ve got to step up to the mark. But for me, I don’t want to see it. I’m only interested in Tyson winning his fight.”
For his part, The Gypsy King has confirmed he has no plans of retirement and is fully focused on this next historic contest.
