The press conference for Tyson Fury vs Derek Chisora today was as eventful and as odd as many expected – with Chisora even trying to phone Eddie Hearn at one stage!
In a dig at Fury’s promoter Frank Warren, Chisora whipped out his phone and joked he was going to give Hearn a ring to help Warren sell out the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on December 3rd.
“We should get Eddie Hearn on the phone, figure out how we’re going to sell out this stadium. Let’s get Eddie Hearn on the blower quickly.”
“He sells out the stadiums every day.”

Judging from the fallout from the failed Fury vs Joshua negotiations, Hearn is probably the last man the Queensberry wanted to hear from today.
Speaking on a more serious note, Chisora stated he was grateful for the opportunity and that Fury lived up to his long held promise that the two would have a trilogy bout.
“I’m buzzing. It’s a great fight. Can’t really say much because they’ve put a gag on me in the contracts – so that’s how I’ll leave it.”
“Tyson has always said there’ll be a third fight and it’s here now. So shout out Tyson for giving me the opportunity to fight him.”
“Is there bad blood? Not really. I just want to take what’s his and make it mine. That’s my whole objective for this fight. I want to physically take it off him.”
And, amidst, the hijinks and comical back and forth, Fury spoke well of Chisora in return, praising ‘Del Boy’ for accepting the fight in December when others, according to Fury, ducked the challenge.
“We tried to fight Joshua, tried to fight Usyk but they didn’t want no smoke.”
“As for me sitting here trying to sell Derek Chisora to the fans? I ain’t got to sell nothing to nobody.”
“When you offer a fight to Derek Chisora – boom, he’s sat here opposite me. The man’s got balls.”
“He’s what you see on the tin, war. And there’s going to be a war in there on that night.”
A lively start to what is sure to be an entertaining build up over the next six weeks.
