WBC and lineal heavyweight king Tyson Fury has announced that his long-awaited showdown with WBA Super, WBO and IBF champion Anthony Joshua will take place in Saudi Arabia on August 14.
Fury took to Instagram to break the news, which should be taken with a degree of caution as an official announcement is yet to be made. But it does seem that the heavyweight mega-fight is finally near to completion after months of tiresome negotiations and counter claims.
“Got some massive news for you all,” said Fury. “I’ve just got off the phone from Prince Khalid of Saudi Arabia, he’s told me this fight is 100 per cent on. August 14, 2021 summertime.
“All eyes of the world will be on the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. And I cannot wait, repeat: cannot wait to smash Anthony Joshua on the biggest stage of all time.
“This is going to be the biggest sporting event ever to grace the planet earth. Do not miss it. All eyes on us. Peace out, God bless, see you all in Saudi! Yes, get in!”
