Derek Chisora is a man who’s been in the ring with Tyson Fury three times, so is better placed than most to predict the upcoming crossover bout between the WBC champion and MMA star, Francis Ngannou.
Chisora is 0-3 against Fury, with the latest defeat coming last December in a one sided beat-down in front of 60,000 fans at Tottenham Hotspur stadium.
‘The Gypsy King’ has not been seen between the ropes since and will take on former UFC heavyweight champion, Ngannou, next, in what will be the Cameroonian’s first professional boxing fight.
Most are calling the fight a mismatch, and although Chisora predicts his former opponent will get the win, having watched Nagnnou train with new coach Mike Tyson he believes Fury will have to get up from the canvas at some point.
Speaking to Seconds Out, Chisora said:
“Yes [I’ve been watching him train with Mike Tyson]. That’s a big fight. Tyson is going to win it but I think Tyson is going to get dropped by Ngannou.”
Fans were left disappointed after negotiations fell apart earlier this year for the undisputed clash between Fury and unified champion, Oleksandr Usyk.
Hopes are beginning to rise again that the historic fight can still be made, with Fury’s UK promoter, Frank Warren, revealing that talks had restarted following Usyk’s victory over Daniel Dubois in Poland last month.
The original plan had been for Saudi Arabia to host a mega night of boxing that would see Fury vs Usyk on the same event as Anthony Joshua vs Deontay Wilder and reports have surfaced to say that this could be back on the cards.
As for now, Fury will take on Nagnnou on Saturday, October 28 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
