Tyson Fury has made his prediction for his proposed fight with arch-rival Anthony Joshua and it ends early.
After WBA Super, WBO and IBF champion Anthony Joshua confidently claimed he would stop WBC king Fury inside six rounds, a riposte from the ‘Gypsy King’ was somewhat inevitable.
When Fury was asked for his thoughts on Joshua’s comments, his answer was even more emphatic.
“I would batter Joshua inside the first round,” said a bullish Fury on Instagram live.
Joshua had earlier told Sky One’s ‘A league of their own’ show that he expected to blast out Fury in the first half of the fight.
“First six rounds, I think, well I know, I’m going to take him out then,” said Joshua. “I have had a shorter career, so I’m fresher. I’ve been in the deep end longer so I can handle the pressure and I believe I’m going to take him out.”
A two-fight series has provisionally been agreed between the rival champions, but first Fury must navigate a contracted trilogy fight with Deontay Wilder while Joshua has an IBF mandatory engagement with Kubrat Pulev. Both fights are tentatively scheduled for December.
