America’s biggest heavyweight prospect, Jared Anderson, who has repeatedly stated his lack of love for boxing, has now said that at the age of just 23 he’s already ‘burned out’.
The 2017 and 2018 national amateur champion has seamlessly transitioned into the professional ranks, continuing his success with fourteen knockout wins in as many fights.
Such pedigree has seen Anderson brought in as a sparring partner for current world champion, Tyson Fury, who labelled the American as his worthy successor, once the ‘Gypsy King’ hangs up the gloves.
However, in recent months, Anderson has cast doubt on whether he will still be around when Fury retires.
Back in April, ‘Big Baby’ declared that he only fights because he has to, and that he has no real love for the sport, revealing plans to retire in the next couple of years.
In a recent interview with Fight Hub, Anderson has gone one step further insisting he’s already ‘burned out’ from the sport – having been doing it since the age of 8.
“I’ve been doing this since I was eight-years-old, I’m burned out.”
“If you don’t use it, you lose it. I’ve took a break from things before and coming back is never the same. I know that if I take too long of a time off, and I’ve noticed that also in my career so far, the times that I did take longer off, when I come back I am not the same.”
“Now, I just stay in the gym. If I stay in the gym for two or three more years by the time that I want retire I will be perfectly fine with it.”
For now, Anderson continues his rise up the ranks and on July 1st will take on former champion, Charles Martin, after Zhan Kossobutskiy pulled out this week.
