After his break to recover from mental health issues, Ryan Garcia has recuperated and is ready to return to the ring in October.
Lightweight star Garcia has had a rollercoaster year. The Californian looked to have made his big breakthrough in January when rising from the canvas to halt former world title challenger Luke Campbell in seven rounds.
Lucrative clashes against Manny Pacquiao and Gervonta Davis were mooted shortly afterwards before Garcia withdrew from a scheduled July 9 bout with Dominican contender Javier Fortuna in April to take care of his mental well-being.
Now the popular Garcia (21-0, 18 KOs) is restored and ready to resume his boxing journey in two months’ time against an opponent to be announced.
“I’m back in October,” Garcia wrote on Instagram, alongside a video of him working out on a speed bag. “I’m having fun. Been a long time but it’ll be worth the wait. LA, I’m coming to fight.”
