Gervonta Davis insists he has ‘more skills’ than Mike Tyson, after the heavyweight icon recently dismissed comparisons between them in an interview.
At his peak, Tyson was the most feared fighter on the planet, and still holds the record for youngest heavyweight world champion in history
In modern times, Davis himself boasts a formidable reputation for power and has picked up stoppages in 26 of his 28 wins and next up is the hotly anticipated all American clash with Ryan Garcia on April 22.
Tyson was recently asked by media if comparisons of himself and ‘Tank’ were justified, which prompted the following tongue in cheek response..
“I don’t know. Maybe just getting in trouble with the law. Other than that, no.”
Davis has had numerous run ins with the law is currently awaiting sentencing for a hit-and-run related incident dating back to November 2020.
Tyson was convicted of the rape of Desiree Washington in 1992 and sentenced to six years in prison, of which he served before being released and going on to continue his career.
Davis agreed with Tyson dismissing comparisons between, claiming on his official Twitter account that he is a more skilled fighter that ‘Iron Mike.’
“I agree. I have more skills.”
This apparently hostile back and forth between the two knockout artists is not the norm, as Tyson as actually been full of praise for Baltimore native Davis when asked about him in the past.
With the biggest fight of his life a matter of weeks away, Davis cannot let comments from Tyson – or anyone else for that matter – take his focus off preparation for Ryan Garcia on April 22nd in Las Vegas.
