Gervonta Davis has spoken out about his potential clash with Ryan Garcia, and assured fans that the “time is now” for the two young stars to lock horns.
Some in the boxing world still have reservations about the fight, after an up and down negotiation process coupled with the fact there has not yet been an official announcement.
However, whilst speaking to ES News, ‘Tank’ seemed to be keen to put those fears at ease.
“A lot of people don’t know how big it is until it’s actually happening. So I’ve just got to continue to work and be ready. The time is definitely now.”
Davis and Garcia have gone back on social media for months, and a fight between the two is widely regarded as one of the biggest to be made in the sport.
And despite the trash talk that they have engaged in previously, Davis actually had some good words to say about ‘King Ry.’
“I think he’s a solid fighter. He’s pretty good, he’s one of the top guys so he’s got to be doing something right.”
“I feel like this is a good fight for the sport of boxing. We’re both young and hungry.”
Issues had arose over the broadcasting rights of a potential rematch, with a clause in place should Garcia defeat Davis, however recent reports suggest this has been resolved.
There were also fears that an ongoing hit and run case for Davis could put the fight in jeopardy, though news broke that the Baltimore puncher would not be sentenced until May 5th, meaning he would be available for the touted date of April 15th.
