Eddie Hearn recently had high praise for Gervonta Davis, but the way it was put didn’t sit well with the undefeated American.
Following his stoppage victory over Hector Luis Garcia in Washington DC, ‘Tank’ set himself up for a hugely anticipated clash with Ryan Garcia. It was a performance that displayed patience and power in equal measure.
Hearn, who has previously reached out to Davis with a promotional offer, discussed the victory with The DAZN Boxing Show, complimenting the fighter and even comparing him to heavyweight legend, Mike Tyson.
“The dangerous thing about Gervonta Davis, he’s not a deep thinker. He’s not an articulate young man. He’s a bad kid. I don’t mean that in a disrespectful way. He’s a bad mother****** .
Just like Mike Tyson, some of these other greats were. And that makes them dangerous because they’re fearless, you can’t get into his head.
The British promoter pointing out that he didn’t mean any disrespect did little in the way of ‘Tank’s response, who zoned in on the ‘deep thinker’ analysis and brought up his recent offer to stage the Ryan Garcia fight.
“Not a deep thinker and not articulate made me “not” sign that bullsh*t ass offer he sent.”

It’s the latest dig Davis has fired Hearn’s way, previously leaking a private email and also calling for him to be banned from promoting for any involvement with Conor Benn, who was found to have failed two doping tests.
It’s safe to say that it’s unlikely the two will work together anytime soon, although Hearn did seem keen on setting up a fight with Benn after the back and forth.
Fans will feel he’s been hard done by here, given that the nature of his comments were largely positive – a lesson for anyone thinking of praising Davis to choose the right words.
