Gervonta Davis has spoken out after his stoppage victory over Hector Luis Garcia this weekend, and admitted he surprised himself with the damage he inflicted on the Dominican.
Garcia was quoted as saying he didn’t know where he was after a vicious assault from Davis in the eight round before he retired in the corner.
Tank’ revealed to SecondsOut that he wasn’t aware of the impact his shots were having on his opponent at the time.
“I knew that short hurt him, but I didn’t know it was like that – not knowing where you are is crazy! I did not know I hit him that hard.”
“I’d rather beat somebody up for twelve rounds than get the knockout, but people like knockouts.”
The victory brought Davis’ record to an impressive 28-0, with 26 of those wins coming inside the distance.
The Baltimore puncher took to social media to react to a post fight interview with Garcia in which ‘El Androide’ was visibly taken aback by the power of Davis.
Damn, I hit that hard? https://t.co/8hVjW6dEDi
