After a knockout victory over super-featherweight champion, Hector Luis Garcia, Gervonta Davis has encouraged Ryan Garcia to sign the contract for a fight between the pair pencilled in for April 15.
‘Tank’ stopped Hector Luis Garcia with damage in the eighth round, meaning that the Dominican Republican did not return from his corner for the ninth.
Now, most boxing fans are expecting Davis to take on another Garcia in the form of fellow American hotshot Ryan – one of the must-see fights of 2023.
In the post-fight press conference, as shared by FightHype, the 28-year-old Baltimore native seemed confident that the fight will take place as he waits for ‘KingRy’ to accept his side of the contract.
“If it was up to me, Ryan [Garcia] would definitely be next. We have somewhat got everything going in the right direction, so we are just waiting on Ryan to accept on his side. Let’s get the job done.
Whilst many fans were pleased that Davis came through his ‘tune-up’ fight unharmed, adding a twenty-sixth knockout to his resume, Ryan Garcia remained unimpressed.
The undefeated prospect – who is known for his speed in the ring – was just as sharp out of it, telling ‘Tank’ that it is ‘over for him’ immediately after the fight. An opinion echoed by controversial Youtuber-turned-boxer, and friend of Garcia, Jake Paul.

In response to the tweets, Davis smiled, labelling both Garcia and Paul as clowns.
“Jake Paul is a clown and Ryan [Garcia] is a baby clown. That is what they do, they try to get fame off of other people, it shouldn’t be any more talking, it should just be working.”
“He already said it [fight scheduled for April 15th]. I will be getting ready, I ain’t doing no more talking, he’s just got to sign that dotted line.”
As the two American superstars look set to square off, boxing fanatics across the pond, as well as around the world, are buzzing at the prospect of two undefeated fighters going toe-to-toe.
