Gennady Golovkin and Canelo Alvarez will return to Las Vegas for their anticipated rematch on May 5th. The venue stays the same as the two middleweight greats are set to headline the familiar T-Mobile Arena on Cinco de Mayo.
Just like last time all the marbles are on the line. Golovkin, the WBA Super, WBC & IBF World middleweight champion, will be looking to add Canelo’s Ring magazine championship to his collection.

“It feels right that the rematch returns to the scene of the crime. This time there will be no drama with a decision,” said Golovkin according to Sky Sports.
Golovkin firmly believes he won the first fight, which was officially announced as a draw after twelve rounds in September last year.
“I won the first fight and left the ring as world champion wearing all the belts. And I am going to win the second fight. It is going to be a record fight and a golden night for me and boxing at T-Mobile Arena,” added Golovkin.
This will only be the second time in Golovkin’s career that he steps into the ring in Las Vegas. ‘Triple G’ has mostly made his fame and fortune under the bright lights of Madison Square Garden but he now gets a chance at redemption in the desert once again.
One man no stranger to ‘Sin City’ is Alvarez. The Mexican boxing superstar has fought the likes of Floyd Mayweather, Shane Mosley, Miguel Cotto and Amir Khan in Las Vegas. His rematch against Golovkin will be his fourth showing at T-Mobile Arena.
“I am happy to return for the fourth time at T-Mobile Arena for this historic rematch against [Gennady] Golovkin,” said Canelo.
“I opened the doors of this place to the world of boxing, and it has become my favourite venue. This is where the fight started, and this is where I’ll end it by doing what I and my fans most desire: knocking him out.”
May 5th will be a treat for boxing fans everywhere as Tony Bellew and David Haye settle their beef at the O2 in London and later on ‘GGG’ and Canelo will take centre stage in Vegas.
