A lot is on the line for both Chris Eubank Jr and Liam Williams tonight in Cardiff.
Whoever walks away with another L on their record will fall further down the pecking order and may have to watch on as the winner is placed into a marquee world title fight.
Boxxer promoter Ben Shalom, the man behind tonight’s show, revealed he has spoken to Top Rank and says a fight against Ryota Murata [who TR promote] or Gennadiy Golovkin is a potential prize for tonight’s victor.
Murata and ‘GGG’ are still to reschedule their WBA middleweight title fight from late last year and a defence against Eubank or Williams may be first on the agenda. Shalom revealed there are other options for Eubank in particular.
“Chris is a fighter who a lot of these fighters want to avoid and it can be difficult. But we’re confident and looking at the winner of Ryota Murata and Golovkin,” Shalom told the BBC.
“There’s massive fights out there for Chris – Billy Joe Saunders and even Kell Brook.
“But from speaking to Top Rank and the Golovkin team, we’re looking at the winner fighting the winner of Golovkin and Murata.”
Things may change quickly however with ‘GGG’ linked once again to a third fight with undisputed super-middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez.
