Gennadiy Golovkin will have the chance to become undisputed super middleweight champion on September 17 but one month later the welterweight division could also crown one man with all four belts.
The Kazakh legend squares off with fierce rival Canelo Alvarez at The T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas for the third time in their careers. GGG, now 40, defeated Ryota Murata to become unified middleweight champion in April while his 31-year-old nemesis Canelo suffered the second loss of his career when challenging Dmitry Bivol for the WBA light heavyweight title last month.
Another winner takes all showdown in Sin City being heavily rumoured is Errol Spence Jr and Terence Crawford.
Golovkin Gives Spence Jr-Crawford Pick
Speaking to the media after the launch press conference for his next fight Golovkin was asked for his pick between Spence Jr and Crawford should the fight happen.
He told Fight Hub TV:
“I believe that boxing fans will win definitely and promoters too.”
“Fights like these need to happen for the love of boxing”
The interviewer refused to let the current unified middleweight champion off the hook and instead wondered who ‘GGG’ would lean towards.
“Crawford.”
“I respect both. Crawford style. I like more his style, closer to my heart. Both great.”
