The build-up has already boiled over and now Devin Haney has claimed that Ryan Garcia will be ready to quit when the two come together, saying ‘we’ve seen him do it before.’
Garcia and Haney began their feud over social media and that eventually turned into behind closed doors for negotiations to fight. ‘King Ry’ is rebuilding after he stayed down for the count from a body shot last time out against Gervonta Davis back in April 2023.
Haney remains unbeaten and has been an undisputed lightweight champion, while in his last fight he stepped up a division to claim his first belt at super-lightweight against Regis Prograis.
Last week the pair came face to face and traded insults before an altercation ensued and each man pushed the other. Garcia has since returned to social media to continue throwing insults and now Haney has spoken about the fight, which takes place on April 20.
He was asked by DAZN how he saw the fight ending.
“We’ve seen Ryan quit before and I don’t think this will be anything different. Once you have that quit in you, it’s in you, you know how to do it, I thin, he will quit on April 20.”
He then reflected on being an inspiration to younger generations of fighters.
“We’re two young guys that started our careers in Mexico, we got an early start, we’re huge stars in boxing and we’re about to put on a huge show. I’m happy to be one of the guys who can inspire the younger generation, especially as we are so young.”
After such a heated build-up, the fight itself promises to be a great coming together of two young talents.
