David Haye has posted an interesting update on his social media account.
The former heavyweight champion can be seen on a video doing a bit of shadow boxing and also giving an update on his rehab and current condition.
In March last year, Haye fought Tony Bellew in an exciting bout that was filled with drama. Haye was in control in the beginning but then suffered an Achilles injury during the fight and eventually got knocked out through the ropes by Bellew. The Liverpudlian managed to cause a huge upset with an 11th round TKO victory.
The two traded verbal blows on social media and during interviews throughout the year but finally managed to come to a deal in order to fight again December 2017.
At the time promoter Eddie Hearn said it was one the toughest fights to put together in his whole career due to the pure hatred between Haye and Bellew.
With some big hype surrounding the fight, fans were salivating over the rematch in December until Haye suffered a freak bicep injury during training and had to pull out.
“It’s been six weeks since my bicep surgery and the scar is healing well. All the tissue inside seems to be healing. I’m curling 25 pounds already nice and slowly and it feels really nice,” said Haye in his recent update.
Bellew-Haye 2 has since been reschedulled for May 5th at the O2 Arena in London. According to Haye, he is nearly halfway in full shape.
“I’m about 40 per cent of back to being in where I wanted to be. Give it another month and I’ll be punching at full throttle. Extention is good. Everything is where it needs to be. I’m happy and I’m working. I’m feeling good,” continued ‘The Hayemaker.’
But Haye also mentioned in the video that this year will ‘potentially’ be his last in professional boxing.
Before his bicep injury, Haye did confirm that if he doesn’t win against Bellew in convincing fashion, he will retire from the sport.

“2018, it’s going to be an entertaining year. Potentially my last year as a competitive athlete so I want to go out with some big fireworks,” promised Haye.
