Eddie Hearn believes Devin Haney will become the biggest star in American boxing should he beat George Kambosos Jr.
Haney’s promoter has received an offer for the WBC title holder travel to Australia and face the WBA, IBF and WBO champion for the undisputed lightweight world championship.
“We’re going through the terms and also with DAZN. I think we’re in a good place. We’ve still got some work to do but I’m hoping we can get that fight closed off this week,” Hearn told Boxing Social’s Andi Purewal.
“It’s a two-fight deal. They want a rematch clause within it. Devin badly wants this fight. It’s a brilliant fight for boxing.
“The money he’s been offered is not good money in relation to the money he’s been making. He cares about legacy, and this is a legacy fight. I said to him you go over to Australia and become undisputed lightweight champion you’re the biggest star in American boxing. So, let’s get it done.”
