Last week Eddie Hearn and Matchroom Boxing USA officially made their biggest move in the US boxing market so far, announcing a billion dollar deal with the new streaming service platform DAZN.
With the new big platform and budget, Hearn is expecting to get in touch with numerous high-profile American boxers who do not have a promotional agreement.
“Who is a target for Matchroom Boxing USA? The Charlo Brothers, Adrian Broner, Mikey Garcia, Errol Spence, Keith Thurman, Danny Garcia, Deontay Wilder,” listed Hearn exclusively to Boxing Social before the official announcement.
Of the names mentioned, the dangerous and skilled Mexican-American four-weight World champion – and current WBC lightweight king – Mikey Garcia looks to be the first one of interest for Hearn.

“We’ll definitely be approaching Mikey Garcia and make him an offer. I think with Mikey Garcia he seems to be a quite shrewd guy. I think he has no promotional contract, I think it’s fight by fight with everybody. So he’s obviously in a good position. We are keen to make him a substantial offer,” Hearn continued.
Garcia has now revealed that he was in talks with Hearn before Matchroom’s announcement and a potential offer has been made by Hearn already.
“I honestly already have been speaking to Eddie Hearn. “[I’d spoken to him about] a week before he made his announcement. He’d already reached out to me, we’ve already been talking. He’s going to be sending a proposal, he actually sent me something already,” told Garcia in an interview with ESNEWS.
In his next fight on July 28th, Garcia will put his WBC belt on the line against IBF titleholder Robert Easter Jr. in a unification bout for the lightweight crown. A win would take Garcia one step closer to the much discussed potential super fight against current three-weight champion Vasyl Lomachenko.
