Now deep in training for his grudge match with Dillian Whyte on August 12, Anthony Joshua has shared a short video from camp in which he claims he “breathes life” into the heavyweight division.
After several days of press last week, Joshua is now back out in Dallas bedding in with his still-new coach Derrick James.
The rematch with fellow Brit ‘The Body Snatcher’ will be their second professional fight together – the first a KO for ‘AJ’ in 2015 – and follows Joshua’s points win over Jermaine Franklin back in April.
Whyte was last out against the same opponent and also saw out a 12-round points win. During their upcoming match at the O2, though, both men will be looking for more drama and a dramatic finish given they have one win each in previous fights including an amateur bout in Whyte’s favour.
Joshua released the behind-the-scenes film that shows what his life is like when in camp, and why he’s doing it.
“Camp is camp, it’s tough, but it’s for me because I want to push myself. This is what I do, this is what I live for, I’m ready for battle.
You know I breathe life into this division, I bring excitement, and when I’m at the top I take on all challengers. Once I’m there, it’s going to be a dream come true.”
At one point, James praises Joshua’s famously dedicated mindset.
“He’s pushing himself, he’s always asking me what can I do more, what can I do better, how can I work on fitness more? And that’s the sign of a great individual and a great champion – someone who wants to be better.”
Only time will tell whether this new partnership does indeed get more out of Joshua on his rise back to the top of the division.
