# Heavyweight Champion Who Faced Lewis And Foreman Says He’s Coming Back To KO Ngannou

A former heavyweight champion who squared off with the likes of George Foreman, Lennox Lewis and Vitali Klitschko has claimed that he will knock out Francis Ngannou in his ring return.

[Ngannou is now the target of many heavyweight boxers. He was recently instated as a Top 10 contender by the WBC following his first-ever boxing match back in October.](https://www.cbssports.com/boxing/news/former-ufc-heavyweight-champion-francis-ngannou-enters-top-10-of-wbc-rankings-after-loss-to-tyson-fury/#:~:text=The%20World%20Boxing%20Council%20has,with%20no%20professional%20boxing%20wins.)

That came against Tyson Fury in a high-profile event that more than delivered, with Ngannou managing to knock Fury down in the third but ultimately being edged out on points over 10 close rounds. It was a stunning performance from a former MMA champion who had never boxed before but had plenty of assistance from former heavyweight champion and boxing legend Mike Tyson.

One man who saw that fight has now said he wants a shot of his own, and that is former champion, Shannon Briggs.

The man known for his catchphrase ‘let’s go champ’ hasn’t fought since 2016. His long career includes a total of 68 bouts and includes plenty of big names, though his best victory saw him lift the WBO title in 2006 when he beat Siarhei Liakhovich.

Speaking to [iFL TV](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7i-jIEEQs68&t=264s), he was asked about his chances against Ngannou.

> “He is a formidable guy, but at the same time, I’ll knock him out. I’m not worried about that anybody doubts that, they can doubt it.”

Briggs then drilled down into why he thought he would get the win.

> “He can’t move, He a flat-footed bum. He just a pie. I’ll knock him out. He try to slug with me he’s got no chance, I’m too fast. Let’s go champ!”

[Briggs recently announced he’ll be returning to boxing against former MMA star, ‘Rampage’ Jackson, and has made his intentions clear that he intends to challenge for the title again](https://wp.boxing-social.com/news/former-heavyweight-champ-on-comeback/).
