Anthony Joshua is currently on the rebuild after losing his heavyweight titles to Oleksandr Usyk back in 2021 – and a long-term rival can’t see him getting them back anytime soon.
Joshua lost his belts for the second time in his reign to Usyk via a unanimous decision and suffered a similar fate just 11 months later in the rematch in Saudi Arabia.
Andy Ruiz Jr was the first man to claw the belts away from ‘AJ’ when he caused one of the biggest upsets in heavyweight history, stopping the Brit after three knock downs in his American debut at Madison Square Garden.
Since then, Miller has been adamant he has unfinished business with the former champion and has made it clear that is the fight he wants most as he continues to rebuild his own career.
“AJ [is the one I want]. Belt, no belt, I’ve still got to punch that man.
If you watch it, ever since I punked his a** in New York he’s never been the same. That boy lost all his marbles. Andy [Ruiz] smoked him. Usyk smoked him twice. I tell people this, media can be your worst enemy of your best friend.
Media was both for him. They made him be something he wasn’t. He’s not a killer, he’s no animal and no savage. I know a savage in the ring and he’s not one of them, so I always knew that.
When he is in front of a super tough task, he’s going to crumble, he cracks. Andy did it and Usyk just ran from him and beat him up.”
A meeting between Miller and Joshua looks a long way off after Eddie Hearn has always insisted he would never work with “Big Baby” again after his failed tests.
