American heavyweight prospect Jared Anderson has made a picture perfect start to his professional career, defeating all 14 men to share the ring with him inside the distance.
One of the shining lights of Top Rank’s booming stable, many believe Anderson is a world champion in waiting,
And the 23 year old is certainly not lacking in confidence, as his post fight interview following his win over George Arias earlier this year proved.
“I’m different, I’m nice. I’m the best heavyweight in the world, I don’t give a f*** what nobody’s talking about!
[I want] those top names, those top contenders. Everybody who keeps calling people out, put my name on the list now. I’m not ducking, I’m not running and you ain’t catching this smoke.”
Arias, who was unbeaten going into the contest with ‘The Real Big Baby,’ proved to be ultimately overmatched and retired from the fight after just three rounds.
Impressive as that performance was, Anderson still has some ways to go before being able to have the resume to back up the huge claim, as the likes of Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk would no doubt beg to the contrary.
His next fight, however, will be his toughest yet, when he takes on former top Kazakh amateur Zhan Kossobutskiy at the Huntingdon Centre in Toledo.
Kossobutskiy is also undefeated, and only one of his 19 opponents thus far has managed to last until the final bell.
Top Rank’s other rising heavyweight prospect, Arslanbek Makhmudov, will fight Nigerian heavyweight Raphael Akpejiori on the card, with a fight with Anderson believed to be in waiting should the Russian emerge victorious.
With Anderson’s best years all ahead of him, one wouldn’t bet against him asserting himself at the top of the blue ribbon division in the not too distant future.
