After its postponement on Wednesday, Carl Frampton’s bid to become a three-weight world champion against WBO 130lbs king Jamel Herring may now take place in Dubai.
The bout was originally scheduled for the Copper Box Arena in London on February 27 before Frampton withdrew with a hand injury yesterday, the latest twist in a fight that has been hampered by numerous delays.
But according to Mike Coppinger of The Athletic, Herring-Frampton could now be headed to the sunnier climes of Dubai in the spring. Dubai is, of course, the base of both fighters’ advisors MTK Global.
The winner of Herring-Frampton must meet WBO No.1 contender Shakur Stevenson within 90 days of that bout’s conclusion, following a brief five-day negotiation period.
