Jack Catterall is hoping to return to the ring this July and says he would be interested in fighting former world champion Regis Prograis.
The 28-year-old from Chorley has had time to rest and recover following a career best performance against Josh Taylor that ended with Catterall controversially losing out by split decision. Six weeks on from that night in Glasgow and ‘El Gato’ is now looking to the future after signing a promotional deal with Probellum.
Catterall has seen his stock go through the roof following his display against the undisputed super-lightweight champion with many believing he is the number one in the division. However, one man from New Orleans likely sees matters differently and has already challenged Catterall to a fight.
Just moments after stopping Tyrone McKenna in Dubai with a clinical performance Regis Prograis noticed Jack Catterall ringside and called him into the ring.
“I like the guy. He called me into the ring, but I said to him it’s your night, enjoy yourself,” Catterall told Boxing Social’s Andi Purewal.
Prograis is keen to take on Catterall and with both now under the Probellum banner it should be a realistic possibility that the two southpaws face one another.
“I’m confident that fight can be made,” said Catterall. “
We’ve got the same team now, Prograis is hungry to get back to world titles and so am I. I think that’s a big fight down the line whether it’s for an eliminator, for a world title or whatever. But definitely something I’m interested in.”
