Earlier this this year, we saw the Jake Paul vs Tommy Fury fight cancelled for the second time due to visa issues with the latter. Now it seems that the two fighters are again keen to rearrange the bout.
There’s been a catalogue of altercations and online spats between the pair, however they both seemed professional and serious on a video call to one another after Amanda Serrano’s fight on the Joe Joyce vs Joseph Parker undercard. It was a Queensbury event, the same company who handle Fury’s matchmaking and promotion.
Paul is the promoter of seven-weight world champion Serrano, who cruised to a unanimous decision victory against Denmark’s Sarah Mahfoud. Post fight, he jumped on a Facetime call to congratulate his fighter after a strong performance. Serrano then reacquainted him with his rival. At the end of the unusually friendly encounter, ‘The Problem Child’ reiterated his desire to fight Fury:
“Tommy, lets make the fight happen buddy”
With ‘TNT’ Fury replying:
“I’ll see you soon”

From a commercial perspective, the fight is arguably one of the biggest in the sport, with 25m combined Instagram followers, as well as the ever-popular USA vs UK angle.
From a fighting perspective it should be interesting. Fury would be the first opponent with professional boxing experience that Jake Paul has faced, despite his 5-0 record. Having said that, Paul is scheduled to fight UFC legend Anderson Silva (3-1) on October 29th. The former MMA star has competed in boxing before, his highlight being a win over Julio César Chávez Jr.
Whatever happens on the night, it’s safe to say the Tommy Fury fight will come back around.
