Jake Paul has once again called for a fight against Canelo Alvarez after needing less than one round to knock out Ryan Bourland.
Paul was facing Bourland in Puerto Rico on Saturday night live on DAZN, and despite Bourland being a 17-2 professional boxer heading into the fight, was outmatched by his opponent.
A barrage of shots towards the end of round one from Jake Paul was enough to force the referee to step in and wave off the bout, seeing Paul extend his record to 9-1, with six wins by knockout.
The Youtuber-turned-boxer wasted no time making his intentions clear following the bout, calling for an unlikely showdown with pound-for-pound king Canelo.
“Canelo, stop ducking. I know you want it. I’m repping Puerto Rico, you’re repping Mexico, so it’s Puerto Rico vs Mexico.
“I want Canelo. I want all the biggest names. Like I said, I’m the face of this sport. Truly, who’s doing more for boxing than me? I keep on proving myself time and time again.
‘I’m on the path to [becoming] world champion and I want to keep on fighting tougher fights. If a money fight pops up, I’ll take it because those are fun. But for now I’m staying on the path of fighting real fighters and increasing the level of opposition.”
A fight between Paul and Canelo seems extremely unlikely for now, with the Mexican expected to return for a Cinco de Mayo showdown in May against Jaime Munguia.
