YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul has fired shots at Eddie Hearn for failing to help deliver the rematch between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano, claiming that the vocal British promoter “promises a lot, but does not deliver”.
Jake Paul and Hearn worked together on the initial clash between Taylor and Serrano, which proved to be an all-time classic for both the women’s side of boxing and for the sport as a whole.
It was the Irishwoman who came out on top on that occasion at Madison Square Garden in New York, edging a razor-thin split-decision, but it left fans beckoning for more.
Since then, rumours that the pair could meet again in Ireland, possibly even at Croke Park, spilled over into the public sector, but the rematch is still yet to manufacture.
Speaking to Boxing Social, Jake Paul declared that Hearn and Matchroom were difficult to work with but admitted that he will still do everything within his power to ensure that Serrano gets a second shot at Taylor.
“I think that he is a typical person in boxing, he says a lot, promises a lot, but doesn’t deliver. His mouth is bigger than everything else that he does.
“Basically, we have been trying to make that fight happen with all of the negotiations and everything and it’s just really difficult to work with them.
So, it is what it is, but obviously Amanda wants the rematch so we are still going to try to make it happen and, besides our differences, I would love to figure it out with them. It’s just that it takes two parties to make a deal.”
Jake Paul will fight on Serrano’s undercard on Saturday night, as she defends her unified featherweight world titles against Nina Meinke, whilst ‘The Problem Child’ is tasked with 17-2 former Golden Gloves champion Ryan Bourland, live on DAZN.
