Jake Paul has had his say on a potential rematch between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor.
It’s yet to be seen whether q return between multi-weight world champion Mayweather and UFC star McGregor is desirable for fight fans.
Jake Paul, the influencer turned boxer, has echoed the sentiments of UFC head Dana White, who himself has poured water on the idea of the pair meeting again.
Paul returns to the ring on August 6, exclusively live on DAZN, when he takes on Hasim Rahman Jr. at Madison Square Garden in New York.
But the 25-year-old, who has won five from five as a pro and was lined up to meet Tommy Fury next month before the brother of WBC heavyweight champion Tyson encountered legal issues stopping him from entering the States, is targeting McGregor for after he takes on Rahman Jr.
The Irish superstar is rumoured to be in talks to face Mayweather for a second time after their first meeting in 2017. Mayweather stopped McGregor inside 10 rounds in a blockbuster spectacle at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas and a second fight would be money-spinning beyond belief for both men.
When speaking to the DAZN Boxing Show, Paul spoke about a potential fight against ‘The Notorious’:
“Me vs. Conor is a way bigger fight.
“Floyd is old, and we’ve already seen that product.
“We know it’s just a money play if they fight. Me vs. Conor is way more competitive, there’ll be way more s**t talked, way more entertaining and it’s the one that everyone really wants.”
Mayweather has participated in a number of exhibition fights since increasing his record to 50-0 with 27 KOs against McGregor five years ago.
Jake Paul boxed in Tampa last December in a rematch against former UFC fighter Tyron Woodley, stopping him in the sixth of eight rounds, and McGregor has been out of the octagon for more than a year, having lost twice to Dustin Poirier in January and July 2021 respectively.
