It has been reported that Jared Anderson, 23, was arrested in his home state of Ohio on the morning of Monday November 6.
The rising heavyweight star has fought three times this year, taking his record to 16-0 with 15 knockouts by beating George Arias, Charles Martin and Andrii Rudenko. He currently does not have his next fight scheduled.
Anderson, as per ESPN, was taken into custody on two charges – improperly handling firearms in a vehicle whilst knowingly under the influence and operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
The report states that he spent around eight hours in jail before being released.
Also known as ‘Big Baby’, Anderson is America’s next heavyweight hope when the current crop of champions and former champions hang up the gloves.
He has received glowing praise from Tyson Fury, and has benefitted from sparring sessions with the undefeated Brit. Backed by Bob Arum’s Top Rank, he has been moved steadily and faced his toughest test in former world IBF champ Martin earlier this year.
Anderson weathered a storm or two from the hard-hitting, in-form southpaw and proved he could last the distance and still pick up the later rounds.
He is currently ranked number two with the WBO, seven with the IBF, six with the WBC and eight with the WBA.
