Promoter Bob Arum believes his young heavyweight Jared Anderson will be good enough to beat former WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder by the end of 2022.
Anderson, 22, unbeaten in 11 starts has only been as far as six rounds and never fought in anything more than an eight-round bout during his two-year career.
However, Arum, who has promoted some of the greatest heavyweights ever is backing his starlet to be ready for the ‘Bronze Bomber’ soon.
“Pretty much anybody in the heavyweight division would lose to Wilder,” Arum told Sky Sports.
“The one guy who will be equipped to beat him, by the end of this year, is Anderson.
“I would be prepared to discuss a potential Wilder vs Anderson fight by the end of this year.”
It’s a bold statement from Arum who works in tandem with Frank Warren to co-promote Tyson Fury, the current WBC heavyweight champion.
“When Fury hangs up the gloves, Jared will be in position to become the next great heavyweight,” Arum predicted.
