Welterweight champion Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis is out to take over his division and has sent out a warning to that effect.
Ennis has so far had 31 fights, won all of them and knocked out 28 of his opponents. He is the IBF world welterweight champion having been promoted from interim champion back In November when Terrence Crawford was stripped of the belt due to the rematch clause with Errol Spence Jar rather than defend against his mandatory, although as of yet that rematch has not happened.
He has been often mentioned as a potential opponent for the 26-year-old Ennis, who is now on a mission to clean up all the belts in his weight class.
His last fight was back in July when he successfully defended his interim belt against Colombian Roman Villa by knocking him out with a scary finishing blow in the 10th round in Atlantic City.
Ennis picked up the belt initially in January of last year when he defeated Karen Chukhadzhian in Washington D.C. and will now look to carry on his unbeaten run when he returns for another defense this summer.
Speaking via Matchroom he shared his excitement at what comes next and promised to deliver.
“I’m excited for this partnership with Eddie Hearn, Matchroom and DAZN. I can’t wait to continue making my mark and becoming undisputed world champion.
“I’ve been out of the ring for a year, and I cannot wait to get back in and do what I do best; entertain the fans and put on clinics. There are blockbuster fights on the horizon for me, and I am ready to deliver them.”
News of his first world title defence will follow soon.
