Jarrell Miller returns to big time heavyweight boxing next month, and he’s been giving his verdict on the main players in the division.
Following a two-year ban for doping offences, the Brooklyn brawler picked up three lower-level wins before signing to fight Daniel Dubois on December 23.
Should he win, he’s looking for fights that will get him into world title contention. Another man working his way up the ladder is 23-year-old Jared Anderson, who shares the nickname ‘Big Baby’ with Miller.
The controversial heavyweight isn’t a fan of sharing his moniker, and told FightHype that Anderson was ‘his son.’
“That’s my son. You’re talking about Jared ‘My Son’ Anderson. That’s what they should call him, not ‘Big Baby.’ He little baby. What he’s 245?”
Anderson is undefeated in 16 and tipped by Tyson Fury as a future heavyweight champion. Despite the hype surrounding the young American, Miller isn’t totally convinced.
“I think he’s got a bright future still. His heart’s a little bit suspect because of interviews and things that he say and do. Sometimes you gotta watch how guys talk, the conviction in their voice. You’re not catching me on no camera crying.”
“We’re from two different aspects of the world. He’s from Ohio, I’m from Brooklyn. He’s built different. He hasn’t been in no real tough fights yet. He fought Charles Martin which was a good fight, Charles Martin I had what seven days notice? He’s not tested yet. He’s still young, but don’t try to bite my style and make it seem like you’re the greatest thing since sliced bread. Time will tell.”
Anderson doesn’t currently have a date for his ring return. Should he want a big name on his record, Miller may be available in 2024.
