Errol Spence’s stablemate Jermell Charlo has weighed in with a prediction for his legacy defining clash with Terence Crawford this weekend, and is putting his money where his mouth is.
Charlo and Spence have become good friends whilst both training under Derrick James at his Dallas gym, so there are arguably few better placed to weigh up ‘The Truth’s chances in the Crawford fight.
In a recent interview with 210Boxing, Charlo seemed confident that his gym mate will emerge victorious on Saturday night, and that he was betting accordingly.
“Absolutely! That [Spence] is my guy, I’ll put down a solid $25,000. I really don’t like to talk to crazy with the betting, but I’ll bet $25,000 and have fun, enjoy my night in Vegas.”
In another feature with FightHub, Charlo revealed exactly what round he believes Spence will get it done.
“He’s trained too hard to lose, he’s the best in the game right now at 147 – nobody’s rocking with him. Round six!”
WBC, WBA and IBF champion Spence and WBO belt holder Crawford are both viewed as top ten pound for pound fighters at least, and whoever is crowned undisputed champion at the T-Mobile Arena this weekend will have as strong a claim as anyone for number one in the sport.
A two way contractual rematch clause is in place, meaning fight fans could be in store for a second serving of action between the pair before the end of this calendar year, depending on how this initial clash plays out.
The legacy defining all American dust up is available to watch on Showtime PPV in America and TNT Sports Pay Per View in the UK and Showtime PPV in the US.
