Joe Joyce Confirms Ring Return Timeline And Says He’s In For ‘Once In A Lifetime’ Fight If He Wins

Joe Joyce is making a comeback in 2024 and has his eyes on a ‘once in a lifetime’ fight should he win.

Joyce has been rather left out of the heavyweight conversation in the last few months following his shock back-to-back defeats to Chinese heavyweight Zhilei Zhang.

Both were by knockout – the first due to an eye injury which meant the ringside doctor had to stop the fight, the second and more conclusive, due to a right hook that sent Joyce – who came in at a career heaviest weight –  to the canvas face down.

The year ended with huge wins for both Daniel Dubois against Jarrell Miller and Joseph Parker against Deontay Wilder on the Day of Reckoning card, but both are men that Joyce has already soundly beaten, so there could be a chance for him to get back in the frame in 2024.

Speaking to Boxing Social on the evening of the Day of Reckoning card, he spoke of his desire to get back in the ring and get back to winning ways.

“I’m confident but it would be good to get in there, get a nice win on home turf, then possibly to explore other avenues that have sprung up in a once-in-a-lifetime kind of way.”

He was asked to clarify.

“You know, like tonight, maybe.”

Presumably, Joyce has his sights set on fighting Anthony Joshua for the first time or having rematches with Dubois and or Parker in order for him to get back higher up the division, though Dubois has named three men he would like to face next and didn’t mention Joyce.
