Joe Joyce has revealed his list of top five heavyweights in the world – and it’s no surprise ‘The Juggernaut’ has included himself after a fantastic 2022.
World champions Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury were first in Joyce’s rankings, followed by former belt holders Deontay Wilder and Anthony Joshua.
Joyce gave the list in an interview with SecondsOut
“Everyones talking about me in the top 5 now, so it’s good to be in this position finally. Usyk, Fury, Wilder and Joshua. They’re all very difficult fights in their own unique way.”
‘The Juggernaut’ established himself as a bonafide world class heavyweight with a stunning 11th round stoppage win over former world champion, Joseph Parker, in September. With the likes of Daniel Dubois and Carlos Takam also wins he boasts, Joyce holds a very solid resume for a man with only 15 professional fights.
The 37 year old was ringside for Tyson Fury’s comfortable win over old foe Derek Chisora, and even had a strange three way face off with Fury and Oleksandr Usyk post fight at the Tottenham Hotspurs’ Stadium.
Although Fury said an undisputed clash with Usyk – potentially to be held in the Middle East- was the priority, an all-British date with Joyce at Wembley would be the back up plan.
Joyce was a standout amateur and picked up a silver medal at the 2016 Olympics.
The Putney man has had to move very quickly through the professional ranks due to his age, but he has been matched well and a mammoth fight is surely all but guaranteed for next year.
Now holding the WBO Interim title. He’s one of the first names on the list for a shot at a title once Fury and Usyk settle their undisputed business.
