The 54th edition of the Thunderdome series returns to the Metro City Arena for the second time this year with another stacked card on May 26.
Welterweight Joel Lewis will return for his first fight this year when squares off with China’s “White Fang” Weifang Li. Since a sole career loss in Thailand nearly two years ago, Lewis (8-1, 5 KOs) has put together four straight stoppage victories.
“The Team is flying and growing at the moment,” Lewis said in a statement sent to Boxing Social. “I know I have to earn my stripes and I plan to put on a showcase May 29 and start challenging for Championships honours in 2026”
“I know [Dragon Fire] will look after me in 2026 and I’m sure it’ll be a massive year for me now that I’m entering my prime. I’ll be getting a lot more wins under my belt and hopefully more titles will come as well. I know I’m very young but I’m improving every day and I plan on making 2026 a breakout year for “The Dirty Boy” Joel ‘Lethal’ Lewis.”
The Perth native has seen an improvement in his backroom staff, enlisting the help of multiple world championship trainer Angelo Hyder. While in Hyder’s Queensland gym, Lewis has had the chance to work alongside former world champions, Andrew and Jason Moloney.
“My camp is what made the difference against Fano Kori,” Lewis added. “I felt I was ready for that fight. I have a lot of power in my hands and my boxing has come a long way and I’m continually improving.
“I was just a good fighter, but [Hyder] has really turned me into a great boxer and that’s what I’m going to show again come May 29th
“Tune in May 26th Thunderdome 54 the Joel “Lethal” Lewis show season starts and episode 1 is MUST SEE TV”
