John Fury has become known for not being afraid to put the boot in, and will defend his son Tyson to the death against all negativity.
Even when public opinion seems to be against ‘The Gypsy King,’ that never seems to stop his old man from jumping to his defence.
Such was the case around the collapse in negotiations for an undisputed world title fight against Oleksandr Usyk, which most observers blamed Fury and his team for.
However, in a recent interview with SecondsOut, ‘Big John’ was not having that one bit, and described Usyk as “the biggest liar on the planet.”
“Usyk is the biggest liar on the planet, and so are all his people. I’ve lost all respect for them altogether. If he wants the fight, sign the contract – it’s there to be signed.”
“Get it sent over to the lawyers, get it done and let’s get a fight date set and a deal done!”
Whether you agree with him or not, Fury’s commitment to defending his son and his version of events is something that cannot be questioned.
With the undisputed fight against Usyk dead for now, Tyson will take on former UFC star Francis Ngannou in a non title bout on October 28th in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Fury vs Ngannou has received a mixed reception at best from boxing fans, who are growing tired with Fury’s either inability or unwillingness to agree terms for legacy defining clash against Usyk, with some even accusing him of out and out ducking the Ukrainian.
