John Fury Wants To Fight Mike Tyson On Tyson Fury-Francis Ngannou Undercard

As if Tyson Fury facing Francis Ngannou wasn’t a strange enough main event for a professional boxing card, John Fury, the father of the WBC champion has now come out to say he would like to fight heavyweight legend Mike Tyson on the same evening.

Tyson Fury is to square up with MMA star Ngannou in Riyadh on October 6th in a bout that disappoints many fight fans who would rather see him take on a more legitimate challenge inside the squared circle.

Speaking to Seconds Out, Fury’s father John was asked if he would be going over to watch the fight.

“Let me tell you, I’ll swim there. If there are no planes available I’ll swim, and I can’t swim. I’ll get two armbands and I’ll set off today. I’ll be in Saudi don’t worry about that.

He was then asked if he would speak to Mike Tyson, who has been training Ngannou ahead of the event.

“Why wouldn’t I not speak to Mike Tyson? I love the guy, I named my son after him.”

Then came the call-out no one was expecting.

“And if he wants to fight me on the undercard, he can, no problem.

I’m a fighting man, I’m old but I’m a fighting man. He’s a fighting man. He’s old. We’re two geriatrics. If he wants to fight me and I want to fight him, which I do, I’ve made it quite clear, we can do it. I’ve been knocked out before, doesn’t make any difference to me, as long as we can entertain the paying public and put smiles on their faces, that’ll do me.”

Predictions for the main event have long been flying in, and while many think it is a mismatch, Derek Chisora can see Fury getting put down.
