John Fury, whose son will face Jake Paul on February 26, has warned the American that he’ll be leaving the ring on a stretcher.
The video threat comes after the two fighters engaged in a pro-wrestling style face off that will set the tone for the build-up to their big money bout.
Paul and Fury are considered perfect dance partners given their levels of experience in the ring as well as their fame outside of it – one a hugely influential content creator from the US and the other a popular UK reality star and half-brother to the heavyweight champ.
With the fight now signed for a third time following two cancellations, the pair are set to put a long-running feud to an end. One of the main players in that beef is Fury’s father and trainer, John.
He took to Instagram to predict the outcome and bash Paul’s last fight – a decision victory over retired MMA star, Anderson Silva, in which the loser was knocked down.
“A video to Jake Paul and co. Jake, you think Tommy’s not gonna show up. You’re gonna be very disappointed and mistaken, cause we’re one million percent gonna be there. We can’t wait to get this fight done with you, mate. There’s no way in the entire world that this fight ain’t gonna happen, pal.
So if you’re dreaming in your little boy’s brain, thinking that Tommy’s not gonna show up and we’re not gonna fight you, you’re gonna be very wrong. Be prepared to get taken out that ring on a stretcher my friend – because that’s what happening to you. You’ve no chance at all … Not even a puncher’s chance.”
“And your last fight with [Silva] – that fake thing where you missed him mate and he fell on the ground – I’ve watched it time and time again on the video … You’re in a real fight this time mucker with a man that can bang with both hands.”
Others have made the allegations in the past of Paul opponents throwing fights, but the American has branded this childish and stupid.
He’s not responded to Fury as of writing, but it will undoubtedly be coming. The fight takes place on Sunday February 26 in Saudi Arabia.
