John Fury has sent another message to Eddie Hearn – although he says this one will be the last – confirming that fight talks between his son and Anthony Joshua are officially dead.
The war of words between Tyson Fury’s father and Eddie Hearn has intensified in recent days, as Hearn took issue with Fury’s insistence that he had managed Joshua’s career poorly and cost him money.
The elder Fury has now directly accused the Group Chairman of Matchroom Sport of getting in the way of the negotiations for Joshua to face Fury for the WBC Heavyweight Title in December and, ultimately, being at fault for talks breaking down.
“I’m going to put this to bed finally, with the Eddie Hearn and the AJ situation, and my son. Yes, Eddie, you’ve stopped the biggest fight in British history happening, through no fault of our own. You [were] offered everything 60/40, and, like I say, some people just think they’re cleverer than what they really are.”
“It’s not me [who has] put the block on what the fans wanted – the biggest Britain has seen between Anthony Joshua and my son. We’re not to blame, Eddie. You did all of this on your own doing, mate. But listen, what can you say? We won’t mention it no more. This is it. The final video about the Hearns and the Joshuas. We’ll not be concerning ourselves with this anymore because it’s out the window now. It’s a fight that never happened – and who prevented it? Eddie Hearn.”

It’s yet another nail in the coffin of a potential super fight. With both sides now confirming that talks have stopped, and neither seemingly keen to make a move to start them up again, fans can assume that both heavyweights will be facing other opponents at the end of the year.
