Frustration with Tyson Fury appears to be growing by the day, with the boxing public still none the wiser regarding what his next move will be.
Fury has been linked to a fight with just about everyone, from an undisputed clash with Oleksandr Usyk, a bout with cruiserweight world champion Jai Opetaia to even stars from the MMA world such as Jon Jones and Francis Ngannou.
In a recent interview with SecondsOut, Johnny Nelson said Fury was “not doing himself any favours” – however admitted ‘The Gypsy King’ is the best fighter in the world.
“I think Tyson Fury is not doing himself any favours, he even looks set on disappointing his own fans, and it’s going to be like the boy who cried wolf. I don’t understand it.
Tyson Fury is the best fighter in the world – I think he beats them all. But he’s talking like a man who thinks he’s the only choice, and he ain’t.
Boxing was here before him, boxing will be here when he’s gone. So he needs to get his head out of his a**, and get on with fighting, do what he’s good at.”
Fans will hope an undisputed clash with Usyk is on the horizon for Fury, and Skill Challenge Promotions have made no secret of their intention to stage the historic four belt unification in Saudi Arabia, also announcing an official promotional deal with the Ukrainian earlier this month.
The plan is remarkably to stage the legacy defining undisputed fight on the same bill as a bout between Anthony Joshua vs Deontay Wilder, in what would be an unparalleled night for the heavyweight division and the sport as a whole.
